The Study Food Social, a café serving breakfast, lunch, desserts and light bites, is now open on the ground floor of The Howard R. Levine Center for Education at The Pearl, Charlotte’s first innovation district.

Open to the public, The Study is intended to be a place not just for dining, but for social gathering, studying, meeting and relaxing. The café has an indoor seating capacity of 40 as well as a spacious, welcoming outdoor patio.

For breakfast, expect a range of hot made-to-order dishes including omelettes and buttermilk pancakes, as well as freshly baked pastries, a fruit and yogurt bar, and more. Lunch includes rotating housemade soups, a salad bar, burgers and sandwiches, among other original housemade dishes.

“The thing I want people to know about The Study is that we’re here to offer good food but also hospitality and a place where you feel like congregating. We want it to be fun. We want it to be a place that’s versatile,” said Taalib Hasan, general manager for Restaurant Associates, The Pearl’s food and beverage provider. “If you want to come in and grab a muffin, you’re welcome to stay and study; if you want to come in and have a meeting, you’re welcome to do that.”

To order at The Study – where you’ll find breakfast and lunch grill fare, made-to-order deli sandwiches and weekly chef-curated specials – you can use the kiosks in the café, or pre-order and pay via Toast online. Self-checkout is available for other menu offerings at The Study as well.

The Study is open for breakfast from 7-10 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday throughFriday. For those on the go or in a hurry, grab and go selections are available from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

“The Study Food Social aims to create a welcoming place where students, faculty, innovators, neighbors and visitors can relax and recharge,” said Hillary Crittendon, VP of innovation district operations. “More than a café, The Study is a community-centered space designed to support meaningful interactions, reflecting our vision for The Pearl as a destination that brings people together.”
