On a crisp November morning, The Pearl shimmered with energy and gratitude as Advocate Health teammates gathered to honor Veterans Day – an enterprise tradition.
The innovation district in Charlotte was alive with nearly 200 in-person guests, joined by countless others virtually and at watch parties across the country, all united by a shared purpose: to celebrate those who have served our nation and continue to serve through their work at Advocate Health.
This year’s theme, “Service to Our Nation,” resonated deeply, marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy, Army and Marine Corps. The event was more than a ceremony – it was a heartfelt tribute, featuring inspiring voices like retired Army General, Stanley McChrystal, and Advocate Health CEO, Eugene A. Woods.
Fernando Little, SVP & chief access and opportunity officer, reminded everyone that the legacy of service is woven into the fabric of both military and health care communities, while Misty Wheeler, associate vice president patient care services, spoke of how the spirit of Veterans Day lives on in everyday acts of care and leadership.
Throughout the morning, stories of courage and commitment filled the air.
Veteran teammates – doctors, nurses, researchers and more – were celebrated not just for their service in uniform, but for the leadership and purpose they bring to Advocate Health’s deeply rooted commitment to improve lives.

The One Team One Mission (1T1M) System Resource Group and the Veterans Committee were also recognized for their tireless work supporting and empowering military and veteran teammates, ensuring that the bonds of service remain strong.
Advocate Health CEO, Eugene A. Woods, captured the spirit of the day, sharing, “Veterans remind us that our work is about service – helping people live well and live longer. At Advocate Health, they lead with courage and commitment every single day.”
His words echoed through The Pearl, a place where innovation and compassion meet, and where the organization’s purpose – redefining care for you, for us, for all – is brought to life.
